Meet Kaela

My name is Kaela Berg, and I am proud to represent District 55B in the Minnesota State House of Representatives.

I was born in a small town in Minnesota to a birth mother with the courage and strength to place me for adoption in hopes of giving me a better life than she felt she could provide. Thanks to her, I have a mom, dad, and sister whom I love with all my heart.

I have two sons who I’ve raised in Burnsville school system. Like most Minnesotans, I’ve had to work hard to support my sons. At any given time, I have had up to three jobs, often without healthcare, and still lived paycheck-to-paycheck. I’ve had to feed my children dinner from the dollar store and cross my fingers hoping to make it to payday before another bill came due.

I have also known the peace of mind that comes from being financially secure “enough” because of hard work and a good union contract. I have been a union flight attendant for 19 years and a fierce labor activist for over a decade, and I believe everyone deserves their chance to achieve prosperity.

I made the decision to run for the Minnesota House to represent working families like mine who worry about being able to afford healthcare bills while working 40+ hour weeks, who want the best possible eduction for our kids to prepare them for long-term success, and who work longer and harder year but take home less in our paychecks as the result of an unfair tax structure. I am working for working families because it’s time for us to start getting a fair deal from our government.

I look forward to knocking on your door to learn from and listen to you so we can work together to address our shared concerns and build on our shared hope and values.
